[Open] November Introduction Log
Characters: Volunteers, Newcomers and OPEN for mingling!
Location: All Around Death City
Rating: Varies
Time: July 21th, All Day (forward dated)
Description: Welcome to Death City!
Shibusen ended up spending the better part of yesterday sorting out the problem with the creatures that had arrived.
Before they found the time to figure out how to return everyone to normal, there was a beep indicating that BREW was acting up...in the usual way this time, thankfully.
This time they called for fewer volunteers, because the reading was pretty small. Looks like everyone gets a personal guide this time!

Open!
"Welcome. I'm Death the Kid, the reigning Shinigami here in Death City. I take it the tour went well? If nobody has any other questions, please proceed to the machines and determine your designation as a Weapon or Meister. To know makes it simpler to begin learning the ins and outs of your position and start your search for a partner of the opposing designation."
"But should the machines not be to your liking, one of my abilities is Soul Perception. I can look directly into your soul and determine what you are. Either method is completely painless, and you have my word that they are not as intrusive as you think. You may also defer to me for any further questions unanswered during your tour." With that, he tipped his head.
Who would step up first?

She took two steps forward, stopping in front of him and setting her hand on her hip. What would someone see if they saw her soul anyway? She was't precicely a good person. "I am Bianchi." She provided, Italian obvious in her pronunciation. "Tell me what you see."
no subject
One of which was this woman, to whom he tipped his head. "A pleasure to meet you, Bianchi. It'll be just a moment."
In three steps, he stood before her and golden eyes set to focus, pushing out all over forces and bringing his senses to temporarily focus on one soul particularly: Hers.
What bloomed before him was a soft pink light, something nestled in her core. But he wasn't Maka Albarn, who could somehow read deeper into the soul, or some of the rare few among the Guests who could do the same in their own unique way. The information he needed was right at the edges of it.
"You... are a Weapon. You bear the capability of full-body transformation, and with the partnership of a Meister have the power to eliminate the kishin eggs that are a growing problem in the world." With a blink and a moment's focus, he brought his vision back to normal.
"I'm happy to answer any questions you have; at times the tour guides leave the newcomers a little confused and in need of clarification."
no subject
She looked straight back into his eyes, steady and unblinking and it almost looked like she might be looking into his soul in return but obviously this wasn't a skill she had. His eyes unfocused a little and then he seemed to be looking past her before he made his announcement. A weapon. With the ability to change her body. That was interesting. "How, exactly does one go about transforming one's body?" She asked curiously. One question at a time could be important though she sometimes grew impatient.
Where his expression has come back into focus he no longer appears to stare but her gaze has not shifted even minutely from his.
no subject
"A desire to protect your partner, be they temporary or permanent, is the key to the transformation. To conjure this desire, to truly feel it, initiates the change. The first two or three times will not be easy, as we've all been born in the bodies we possess and to 'leave it' is no simple matter. Everyone meets in the park between 6 and 9 AM every morning to train, and we have instructors that would be more than happy to teach you the finer points of what you can and cannot do as a Weapon and Soul Resonance."
no subject
"Perhaps I know something similar." She murmured thoughtfully, her eyes going a little unfocused in thought. She clenched her hand and looked at her ring finger for a moment before nodding. "I am more familiar with exerting your will as a force in general. 6 in the morning you said? Very well." Even if she decided she had no interest in fighting the witches it would be useful to find something to make up for her lost abilities. And a quick way to see more of the people brought here.
"Soul resonance?"
Sorry about this, Black Friday shenanigans.
But he nodded. "Soul Resonance is another important factor in the bonds between Meisters and Weapons. BREW has given your soul a semi-solid form, and every soul here gives off something akin to soundwaves. By syncing it with a partner's, your abilities are increased exponentially, and you're both capable of achieving far more than if you fought alone. But there is a catch: Compatibility."
He cleared his throat and continued. "Opposites do attract, but you must have a mutual respect for one another, some threads to which you both can bond and in turn strengthen your resonance. Fortunately, there are 'meet and greet' areas in Morning Training as well to help you get to know other unpaired Weapons and Meisters and make your initial judgments. Should you find someone suitable, we have special missions for pairs to embark upon to assist in the situation here in this world. With combat experience and acquiring kishin egg souls, your abilities as a Weapon increase further... but I do get ahead of myself in this regard, and for that I apologize."
I know how it goes
Bianchi had issues with compatibility even when she wasn't trying to match her soul to someone else's. Fickle. She was very fickle. It wouldn't surprise her if she was working with someone and partway through they pissed her off and messed everything up.
Soul compatibility sounded rather romantic. Though she had a feeling it was more like teamwork in the long run. The special mission weren't much of an interest to her beyond testing out abilities but she needn't explain that to someone who seemed to carry some authority here. She'd taken it all in and she lifted a shoulder at his apology. "A man should never apologize for imparting important knowledge." She reprimanded.
"Is there a way to visit Las Vegas while I am here? I have some business I would like to attend to."
no subject
But his eyebrows lifted at the reprimand. A moment later, the smile was small as he nodded. She was absolutely right, after all. Had he grown so accustomed to hearing others raise their voices, expressing their dismay and disgust that he'd shifted to a gentle apology for speaking at length? Perhaps he'd gone a little soft in his time as reigning Shinigami, just like his late father. "Of course."
"...Yes. You'll find no shortage of transportation services within the city more than happy to take passengers to Las Vegas for the day. The city has become a frequent pastime for many of our visitors here, but most come home exhausted after a night under the bright lights and sound," he replied with a short laugh. Las Vegas wasn't his thing- he personally always burned out from the mish-mesh and chaos of it, spiking more than a few OCD episodes.

He took the reprimand well. Bianchi approved. Which was very rare actually. Her estimation of him went up.
"Excellent. I will try not to be swept away in the glitter." She smiled a little. "Is there anything else I might need to know before I begin to explore in earnest?"
no subject
"You have the basics at hand, but I would approach the SEES table just over there," he replied, pointing to a table manned by red-armbanded individuals passing out baskets.
"They have graciously volunteered each week to give our newcomers a few provisions to ease the first week here, from complimentary toiletries to snacks and food until you settle in. The table next door will issue your apartment keys if a representative has not already issued you a set. Other than that, and without any further questions, Death City is open to you to explore as you see fit."
