Characters: Valentine and Sugata Shindou

Time: May 21st, Morning (it's evening in Croatia)
Description: There's a monster that's going 'bump' in the night for the residents. The citizens of Ogulin are frightened and the government has requested Shibusen staff to assist with their problem.

There was definitely a rustic charm to Ogulin, but they weren't here for sight-seeing. There were a few citizens lingering about, but they either disappeared inside buildings upon seeing the duo or stared. Valentine thought the night life in this world would be more lively, but she guessed when there were Kishin eggs feasting on the souls of innocent people stumbling around in the evening, it would die off out of fear.

She had done some research on where these eggs might be lingering when they weren't attacking humans. It's location was optimal after all, what with being located in the center of town. Valentine stopped where the river met the cavern mouth of the Djula's Abyss. Looked as haunting as the tales made it out to be.

Sugata didn't seem to pay much mind to the strange glances. For what it was worth he was already starting to get used to them thanks to the natives back home. He would, however act as quick as he could if they started anything with the two of them. But for now they were safe. He glances up at Valentine when she comes to a full stop.

"How exactly would you like to go about this?"

Taking a survey of the location, there were several plausible ways of conducting the operation. A certain amount of stealth was required for a few plans, but they would do. The only unknown variable would be the number of Kishin eggs they were going to cut down.

"We'll wait. Eventually it will be hunting time so no point going in and giving our enemy the advantage."

Sugata nods as he slides the pack off his back. "Sounds good to me. Would you rather me transform now, or later?" Sugata wasn't overly concerned with transforming now or waiting for later. But, it wouldn't hurt to be safe than sorry.

Valentine didn't respond immediately, eye fixed on the dark cavern's mouth. It was still; she was listening for any abnormal sounds than those of clinking mugs and low voices. "... Transform now."

He nods once more before turning his full focus on to transforming. It's still not as fast as he wants it to be, but at least it isn't taking him forever. He'll have to work on that when he gets back to his new home.

She catches him, twirling him in hand, but then tucks him away into the pouch she brought. Nothing is moving yet, but the air has fallen silent, shifting to a level of unpleasant. Picking up the pack, she moves quickly into the shade of a tree, springing into the branches. Lithe enough to avoid disturbing too many leaves, she halts on a sturdy limb, crouched and hidden by shadows. Her hand reaches back and rests on his grip.

Sugata does his best to keep his mind clear, but he's definitely ready to strike when he needs to. This all is still so new to him, but he'll be damned if he fails at this. Or lets his temporary meister get hurt. After their little practice session after resonating, he knows they can both finish this with ease. For now he'll focus on keeping his breathing steady.

Narrowed eye, she noted Sugata preparing himself, but kept her eyes forward. The air was becoming stifling.

And there is was marching its way from the darkness. Mandibula nothing be tendrils and with red eyes and portly stomachs, the creature lumbered to a halt wings opening and closing. The ground continued to shake while it stood, a second and third egg bumbling out. They looked like Lovecraftian horrors to anyone who heard of Lovecraft. To Valentine, they could be mistaken for citizens of Canopy Kingdom. Nonetheless...

"Three against one. I was expecting this to be hard. The first incision will be at the shoulder. They're not going anywhere."

Sugata wasn't really sure what to expect when he saw those creatures... so this is what Kishin's looked like??? They should have those things in a pamphlet or something and hand those out to the newcomers so they know what they're getting into. Either way though, he's not going to let this deter him. Focus on what needs to be accomplished and be done with it.

Nothing we can't handle. Or so he hopes. He isn't the type to go in with a cocky attitude since anything could go wrong on the battlefield, but yeah.

Don't blink, Sugata. Without her training inhibited by BREW, it's a single flash step before his blade was already digging into one egg. She's severed the wing right at the juncture which results in a roar and flailing tendrils at its mouth. The other two are surprised, stepping back, but recovering quickly.

The second swings and Valentine ducks around, Demon Tantou flashing as she cut down one of its wings as well. The third has grown wise and opens its wings to take off while the other two recover and come around to corner the two and attack.
