[Open] There and Back Again

Description: The mission's simple: Arrest the perpetrators, and get our friends back. Of course, the kidnappers aren't going to make it simple...



The first step was finding a way into the tunnels connected to the sewers. Thanks to Guest investigators and the Death City Police Department, two entrances were found, allowing for a pincer movement. The mirrors are primed and ready to go, situated in the sewers proper by dawn and ready for a quick extraction of the abduction victims. On the other side, in the Shibusen clinic, medics are on standby for medical treatment of the victims and the fighters heading in to clear out and apprehend the masked weirdoes.

But the masked weirdoes have tricks up their own sleeves: The tunnels are littered with pit traps, thin wire triggers waiting to be sprung (or disarmed) with darts, arrows, or even falling rocks and debris in store for any intruders that decide to enter these makeshift halls, and the perpetrators themselves are armed with melee weapons, smoke and pepper bombs, and sheer numbers.

Today is also the day that the kidnappers have decided that a little isolation would make the prisoners more compliant. Roughly hauled up bright and early one by one, they're on their way to individual chambers when they each get a message via clairvoyance as promised:



"We're coming."

[Much like when she entered, Nanami is still kind of hanging out toward the back as the large group begins to make it's way back to the surface. She's making sure to stay somewhere between Takuto and Atem in case they run into any more trouble since she's doesn't know which one is planning on wielding her.]

[[There was just something about tunnels, Bakura reflected as he followed the group towards the entrance, checking on his mirror for the maps he had made to make sure they were going the right way. The adrenaline was wearing down, leaving him look a touch tired, but he was still focusing, keeping everything else but this rescue mission out of his mind best he could.

... which of course meant that he nearly walked into someone as he was checking the map.]]

[More and more Nanami was starting to feel like the group water bottle and she didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. She had only paused slightly coming out of her thoughts when she noticed someone seemed to be a little too close for comfort.

The voice seemed familiar and after looking directly at the perpetrator she recognized the fluffy white hair.]

Oh! [And then there's this pause] Have you been here the whole time?

[shiromadoushi]

Aaa... mostly.. [[you know, minus the whole running after his best friend and getting lost despite being the one with the maps.]]

I suppose I was just a bit too preoccupied to notice. Who were you partnered with? [She glances about the group, most of the party she was already familiar with. She must be tired though because for a second there she thought she saw two Pharaohs]

[shiromadoushi]

[[The tan and the not so tan? You get used to it, Nanami. Even if it was odd to see the difference between the two.]]

Aaa... no one. I'm just here by myself...

[[...why was she acting as if...]]

[At this point she was feeling like something was amiss. Where was Bakura's usual confidence?]

Are you feeling all right?

[shiromadoushi]

Aaa-- un, I'm fine, I'm fine! Just this whole mess... it's just a little nerve wracking, all the traps and everything. It's a lot different when you're the one facing them directly, rather than them being in a game!

[she's kind of stunned to silence but finally...]

No really, did you hit your head?

[shiromadoushi]

[[blink blink]] ...No... Why...?

[[he wasn't bleeding, was he? He would have noticed that!]]

Because... [wow, how does she even describe this?] you seem a bit.. off. Like you decided to take a walk on the lame side of life today. [Nanami: not good at mincing words.]

[shiromadoushi]

... [[Oh. He deflates, looking to the side.]]

Actually, yes. Basically.

[shiromadoushi]

You're used to the other me, aren't you? The jerk....

[[his voice is so tired and he doesn't look directly at her]]

Huh? The other you?

[shiromadoushi]

[[he nods]] We look almost the same. Only we're not at all.

[[a soft sigh before he gives her a slightly strained smile]] Nice to meet you, I'm Bakura Ryou. Just Ryou here, since he's just Bakura....

[The lighting isn't very ideal in the tunnels so she's not able to make out exact details.]

Wait, I'm confused, are you two different people as in you can physically stand next to each other like twins or am I missing some code for multiple personality disorder?

[shiromadoushi]

Somewhere in between, I think. He's a spirit who used to posses my body, so when he came here, BREW gave him a copy of it so he wouldn't need me any more.

[[His fingers tense at that before he forces them to relax. Really, he should be happy. Getting that jerk out of his life.... only...]]

[she really has no idea what to say to the crazy mumbojumbo especially since it leaned toward the idea that she had partnered with a ghost with a body copy]

...I'm just going to go with fraternal twins...

...It's nothing like that. We're not related....

[please stop Ryou you are breaking her brain]

[she emphasizes each syllable to reiterate the fact that she is going to be stubborn about this.]

[[and he sighs, looking away. He really didn't want to have that argument. Especially not with someone he was sure wasn't going to budge on it.]]

...it'd be identical if it even was something like that...

I will settle on just twins. [she's so nice]

You're right, you guys are almost nothing alike. [she pauses] I'm Nanami, nice to meet you Ryou. [after all he had introduced himself politely before she should probably return the gesture since he was "twins" with Bakura]

[shiromadoushi]

[[As long as she didn't say it that way to the Ring spirit... but that was an entire can of worms Bakura was doing his best to stay away from right then]]

[she half nods to all that because she's irritated with Takuto and therefore he's currently back to 'acquaintance' in her book] I know Takuto, Shinji and Pharaoh.
