Intro Log!
Characters: OPEN to new arrivals and NPCS.
Where: En route to Casualty Communal
Rating: Gen
Time: February 11 onwards
Description: Welcome to Death City!
The city was in good shape today, despite the recent attack to it and the unfortunate earthquake a month back. The damages to the city had been repaired best as they could, and everything else was covered in a healthy heap of decor for the upcoming Valentine’s Day.
Things were a bit somber, as was expected after so many of the residents lost their loved ones. Fortunately, if there was something Death City was good at, it was getting back on its feet after a fall.
[ooc: Player characters will also be joining the log. Everything after the sub thread Soul Perception is open to all characters.]

But it all sounded like something out of a television drama or an anime series. The concept of skipping worlds... Misa supposed it could be possible, she wouldn't deny that. But if a war was in fact going on, why would she have been brought?
Either way, it would be good to go along with the tour, until she could find a way to communicate with Light. Those communicators, perhaps they could reach Japan, couldn't they?

He couldn't risk Misa running into anyone else first, so he immediately called out, "Misa!" Light closed the distance -- a look of relief and happiness passing over his features (an act that he played up for anyone who happened to be watching.) He stepped over to her in a rush, sweeping her into his arms and pressing her close against his body.
His hand came up into her hair, and he turned his head so he could utter a whisper into her ear -- words for the both of them alone, "Act casual and don't draw too much attention. We are outnumbered here by L and his allies."

She was just drawing her hands up to his chest when his words froze her. L? What was Light talking about? It had been 4 years since the original L had died and Light had taken his place. Had he meant to say Near?
But he'd made a request to act casual, and it was something she was sure he would explain when he could. Wrapping her arms more around him, Misa rested her head on him and spoke louder, "Light... you're here too."

"Yes. I've actually been here for a couple of weeks now. Time moves differently compared to home. Although you may have just seen me only a few hours ago, I have also been here. It's confusing, but people can come from several different time frames at once. And from my understanding, they will return to the moment from which they were pulled without even realizing they were gone," he inched back somewhat and now that he looked at her, he could notice a difference. She was older. The goth look had been abandoned.
She came from his future, Light suddenly realized. Misa's usefulness just increased. He wanted to ask her right then and there the questions that burned on his mind -- who was Near. Who were L's allies? Who was from their world, their future, and who was not? But he couldn't rush into this until they were truly alone.
"I'm assisting Shibusen with their tour at the moment, so I'm sure you have several questions. We can start with the communicator. If you go here, you can access the DEMISE network. It works a lot like a phone..." Light brought up the keypad and typed a message onto the screen: Avoid the tour around Death City. There are security cameras and I don't want you to be seen just yet. Head straight to Casualty Communal instead. I'll send you a map to guide you.

Misa read what he wrote and gave a slight nod to indicate she was finished reading it so the message could be deleted.
"So we can always call each other and send each other text messages, right?" she asked brightly, keeping ahold of Light's arm. Already he had formed some plan--it was just like Light! Soon, they could speak alone and he'd explain all that he meant by this.

L or Misa. If it was a matter of which one annoyed him less, he supposed the blond would win. She, at least, would give him space if he needed it -- and her annoyance was unintentional rather than L's constant attempts at getting under his skin. Light grated his teeth at the thought of him, turning his focus to his communicator and deleting the words he wrote on the screen. Then, he brought up the map -- plugging in the coordinates and a quick GPS function before sending it to her communicator.
"Wait for me in the soul perception area once you're done. We'll go to your room together and catch up on everything. Do you have any questions I can answer here in the meantime?"
no subject
Taking a step back from him and furrowing her brow in a confused pout, her voice rose slightly. "My room? But Light, we're going to be living together still here, aren't we? It can't be against the rules here, especially since we're engaged!"
no subject
"If we become partners, then yes, we will live together. But for now you need to get a room of your own. It's the way things are done here officially, Misa. And you wouldn't want to trouble the staff, would you?" By his tone of voice, he made it very clear that troubling the staff would trouble him.
no subject
With another nod, she gave him a sweet smile and brought the communicator close to her chest. "Alright, I'll find out what I am and then meet you there, right?"

"See you there!" she gave an excited wave to him as she turned to go.
