[OPEN] June 2012 Intro Log

Characters: OPEN
Where: Inside Shibusen - The Tour
Rating: Gen
Time: March 1 onwards
Description: Welcome to Death City! Ignore the sand.

It’s one of those days when the BREW starts making the weird energy readings it gives when about to pull people into Death City. Shibusen prepares the place as usual, setting up their tables, the communicators, and calling for the agents who kindly volunteered every time this happened.

Just before the BREW starts, however, a cloud of sand rolls over the city and covers it in darkness, dust, and wind, going high enough to envelop even Shibusen on top of its normally safe location overlooking the city. The alarms go out, the residents quickly retreat to shelter, and Shibusen...

Needless to say, Shibusen isn’t happy about this, and resignedly prepares the dorms instead.

ooc: Player characters will also be joining the log. Everything after the sub thread Dormitories is open to all characters, and people are free to make their own threads. Please put a header on it: [NAME][LOCATION][OPEN/CLOSE]

"Does kidnapping people to enlist them in your army usually work?"

Samus wasted no time beating around the bush. Between the sandstorm and the news of why she was here, she was not exactly happy. And she'd be damned if she was going to take orders from a kid.

"Although you may think otherwise, this was not intentional," Kid only answered in his usual matter-of-fact tone. Since it really was matter of fact that BREW's bringing in people had been pure accidental.

"We are also not forcing or enlisting anyone to actually fight in the war. That is completely up to you."
chozenhunter: (whatevs)

[personal profile] chozenhunter 2012-06-28 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
That, at least, was mildly unexpected. Then again, if everything they said was true, it made sense. If the only way to get home was to win the war, most would immediately sign up. Of course, that depended on there actually being no other way home, which she didn't buy just yet.

"Alright, next question. Why are you fighting this war?"
perfectorder: (☠ and now it's your chance)

[personal profile] perfectorder 2012-06-28 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
"To restore the balance and order of this world," he replied simply. "The witches are currently trying to overthrow that balance and take power over it. As a shinigami it is my duty to protect it from such chaos."
chozenhunter: (let's go)

[personal profile] chozenhunter 2012-06-28 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
That... as much as she hated to admit it, that actually sounded like a worthwhile goal. She was going to end up fighting in this war, wasn't she? And why not? She had finished her mission at Zebes. All that was left was the final report, and the Federation could wait on that.

She sighed.

"Fine. Where do I sign up?"
perfectorder: (☠ you say you should've)

[personal profile] perfectorder 2012-06-28 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"There's no need to sign up," he answered, a little surprised that she seemed quick to "accept."

"What you will need to do, however, is learn whether you are a meister or a weapon and then find a partner. You will then be able to train and participate in the various missions that are posted on the mission wall. You'll see it during the tour—although it's a bit abbreviated due to the sandstorm."
chozenhunter: (Default)

[personal profile] chozenhunter 2012-06-29 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
A partner, hm? That wasn't an idea she was crazy about. She preferred to work alone. No one to get in her way or slow her down. And no one to risk getting hurt, she thought.

"Doesn't sound like any war I've ever heard of." Two person missions seemed small scale, compared to what she was used to from the Galactic Federation Army. Anything that small was typically assigned to-

... to bounty hunters. Heh.
perfectorder: (☠ i feel like i'm)

[personal profile] perfectorder 2012-06-29 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
"I've found that our war is similar to most others in other worlds in its purpose and conflict, but different in style," Kid answered with a small, rueful grin before it disappears as he continues to explain.

"The reason for the partnership is the nature of the enemy. Normal weapons have no effect on the kishin eggs—only those who are capable of transforming into weapons can inflict any damage. However those weapons need a meister to wield them. As a team and through the soul resonance, the partners can inflict a lot of power and damage."
chozenhunter: (hey look another penny)

[personal profile] chozenhunter 2012-06-29 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
While the exact details didn't make much sense - all this talk of soul resonance and meisters was foreign to her - the overall message was understandable. The missions were dangerous, and required two different roles. That meant two different people. Simple fact. Some people were better suited for one role rather than the other. Another fact. Therefore it made sense for there to be units of two people, one of each role.

The mention of eggs, though brought up another thought in her mind. This wasn't just another war. This was like her mission on SR-388.

"Kishin eggs. This is xenocide, isn't it?"
perfectorder: (☠ another day)

[personal profile] perfectorder 2012-06-29 07:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Xenocide?"

Now it was Kid's turn to be unfamiliar with certain terms.
chozenhunter: (let's go)

[personal profile] chozenhunter 2012-07-01 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Xenocide. The destruction of an entire species of organism. For example, these Kishin eggs you mentioned." The only reason someone would destroy eggs would be if they never wanted them to hatch.

"Whatever these Kishin are, you're trying to wipe them out of existence."
perfectorder: (☠ and now it's your chance)

[personal profile] perfectorder 2012-07-02 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Hm. That was an interesting way to put it. He had to think about that for a moment before he answered.

"I suppose one could view it that way, but it would be impossible. First of all, kishin eggs are not actually species. It is what we call those who have taken the life of innocents and absorbed their souls to increase their own power. We also call this as following the path to become kishin. If enough souls are absorbed, the original soul will become so corrupted that the individual will devolve into a completely other creature and seek only to kill to obtain more power. But anyone can become a kishin egg. Thus rather than try to eliminate some kind of species, we are trying to prevent them from evolving into a powerful being that could destroy the world."
chozenhunter: (bitch please)

[personal profile] chozenhunter 2012-07-02 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"So they're only eggs in a metaphorical sense, then." That explanation actually put much of her misgivings at ease. But it did raise another question.

"If it's truly impossible, as you claim, then how do you plan to win this war?" It was one thing to aid a noble cause. It was something else entirely to fight a war without end.
perfectorder: (☠ just hold on)

[personal profile] perfectorder 2012-07-02 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"The only reason why it is impossible is because there will always be someone who will try to seek the power of Madness. I wish it were otherwise, but that is the reality of human nature. In that sense, kishin eggs are in some ways part of the natural balance of this world. They are the evil that counteracts the good."

"However," he continued. "This war is not necessarily just against the kishin eggs. It is more against the witches and the kishin Asura. They are a more powerful, destructive force that is influencing the destruction and chaos that breaks the balance and order of this world. Asura must be destroyed for as the kishin he is the one producing the Madness wavelength. We fight against the witches because they support and aid the kishin and also seek power over this world. Without them, there would be more peace and significantly less number of people turning into kishin eggs."

Kid paused for a moment. How else could he put it?

"Think of the kishin eggs more like the foot soldiers while the witches and Asura are the actual leaders. Though I suppose Asura is more like the core of a virus."
chozenhunter: (look up to the skies and seeeeee)

[personal profile] chozenhunter 2012-07-04 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
"So your claim is that there will always be evil in the world. You just aim to balance it." This level of metaphorical speech was starting to sound like the Chozo again. In some part of her mind, she started to wonder if it was their fault somehow. Again.

"And the overall plan is defeat the leaders, these witches, and destroy Asura before it causes any more trouble. Correct?"
perfectorder: (☠ to move on)

[personal profile] perfectorder 2012-07-04 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Basically, yes."

There was of course a little more to it, but there was a little more to these sorts of things.
chozenhunter: (samus approves)

[personal profile] chozenhunter 2012-07-06 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
She nodded. "Understood. No further questions at this time."

And that was all there was to it; she was on another mission. True, this was was... on the unusual side of things, so to speak, but it was a mission nonetheless. And it was a necessary barrier to overcome between her and reporting the results of her previous mission to the Galactic Federation.
perfectorder: (☠ deep down inside)

[personal profile] perfectorder 2012-07-06 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Then I hope you enjoy the rest of the tour and hopefully the dorm rooms will be accommodating at least for the night until the sandstorm passes," Kid said with a nod. "Take care."
