[OPEN] Feb 2012 Intro Log
Characters: OPEN to new arrivals and NPCS.
Where: En route to Casualty Communal
Rating: Gen
Time: January 26 onwards
Description: Hello, everyone!
It was gloomy weather in Death City, made even gloomier by the state of the city and the tired silence of its inhabitants. Cleaning up after one disaster or another wasn’t cheerful work, anyway, and the commercial district was still muddy in places from the flood three days before.
Still, gloomy or not, everyone seemed welcoming of the new guests, from the heads of Shibusen down to the littlest girl in the pastry store. Even the sun had a smile just for them, from behind the occasional cloud.
Welcome to Death City, newcomers!
[ooc: Player characters will also be joining the log. Everything after the sub thread Soul Perception is open to all characters.]

Re: CASUALTY COMMUNAL
The talk of partnering up with a weapon catches her interest. She'd heard the system mentioned a few times over the course of the tour, but no one had really elaborated on how it worked.
"I keep hearing about these partnerships, but I'm not sure I understand--how does one find someone who works well with them? Is it try until you succeed, or is there an easier way?"

"It's better to keep these questions in mind if you go to Morning Training. People test resonance there every day, trying to find a partner," Clare smiled, trying her best to cover her insecurities over the whole issue. "For the most part you should look for someone you get along with. That's the most important thing. It's all about trust."

That is a hefty thing to ask of someone, though. It would be a burden on both."
She can understand, of course, why it was necessary. This kind of fighting was different from just fighting in a group. In a group, while you had to rely on your comrades, you had more freedom to focus. Each team member had their own part to play. This partnership system...from the sounds of things, you weren't just acting as two people working together. You had to move as one unit, working to protect each others lives.
A hefty burden indeed.

"My mind keeps thinking of it like dating, but with even more at stake," She said it quietly, like it was a little unorthodox to admit to such thoughts. But a permanent partnership was much like a marriage, so it wasn't an apt comparison, "I'm Clare."

"The more I hear about this, the more challenging it seems--And it's a pleasure to meet you, Clare. I'm Tear."

...But she didn't feel like telling a stranger about her parents divorce, her ex boyfriend's meltdown, and how much that's dampening her ability to match with a partner, "I have trust issues. It makes partnering more difficult for me. But a lot of people partner rather quickly here." She tried to keep her tempo even as she shared, but the words rushed just a little when she started.
Maybe it wasn't detailed, but it was honest. And it might help.

"Ah--but thank you. I understand how this system works a little better now, at least I believe I do." Not that she was comfortable with it. She would rather not have to rely on someone in that way. Though she knew she'd have to if she wanted to aid in the war.
