Time: January 23rd, during the daily training sessions.
Description: As usual, Alvin is lurking during training. There's only so much one can endure on their own however. It's a good thing Kratos is taking a bit of a break.

Ever since arriving in Death City, rather than seeking out a partner, Alvin preferred to seek knowledge first. It wasn't his curiosity that drove him to such lengths, per se, it was more so out of his instinct to remain informed, to remain on top of things.

Still, this new world and it's war were vast, and time to let the information sink in was necessary. That was why Alvin attended morning training despite never actually taking part. The distant sounds of swords clanging were familiar, and thus almost soothing to Alvin's mercenary heart; it was a nice place for him to sit and arrange his thoughts. Today... wasn't one of those days, however, and Alvin was lucky enough that another man was seated nearby.

"Hey there." A short greeting to grab the man's attention. "Taking a break?"

Familiar words despite being aimed at a complete stranger.

[Training this morning had been a bit more intense than usual for Kratos. Tomorrow would be the day of the first mission he'll undertake here in Death City. To be ill prepared for it, no matter how simple it might be, would be foolish and possibly have grave consequences.

That said, overexerting oneself prior to such a thing would also be rather foolish, which is why he's decided to take a break from training. The additional company during said break, however, isn't something he expected.

At the stranger's words, he glances over at him before nodding.]

That's correct.

[Nothing more is said. The other man had initiated the conversation so Kratos assumes he wants something.]

Absolutely!

[That something however, is simply idle chatter. Talking to somebody who appears familiar with this sort of setting might be beneficial to him in the long run. That, and well, Alvin gets bored too.]

Hmm. So you come here to pass the time, or are you in this for real?

[flamberge]

[Not like just sitting around and chatting with someone bothered Kratos. He is taking a break, anyway. No reason not to indulge this person in a conversation.]

The latter. Making certain one's skills do not grow dull is of utmost importance when in the midst of war.

Doesn't sound like this is your first war.

[Oh right, manners, manners!]

Ah, I'm Alvin, by the way. [He extends a hand] I'm not intruding or anything, am I?

[flamberge]

[He glances down at the hand before reaching over and shaking it.] Kratos Aurion and no in response to both.

[Neither did Alvin bother him nor was this his first war, though this one did seem to be less severe than the previous one he'd been involved in.]

[An amused hum as he muses over the name.] Kratos... That's very knightly. Must be tough though, coming from one war and thrown right into another.

[flamberge]

[The comment about his name caused him to raise an eyebrow but he said nothing about it.] More irksome rather than tough.

[Alvin shrugged his shoulders.] You're still here polishing your skills though, aren't you? That's more effort than me.

[flamberge]

Putting in the effort to come observe still accomplishes more than were you to not even do as much.

[Which was true. Though not nearly as effective as training, watching certainly served a purpose.]
